The bus driver in Chicago told me to stop running for the 7:15 and I've been thinking about it for 3 weeks
A few weeks back I was doing my usual sprint down Clark Street to catch the 7:15 bus, coffee sloshing everywhere, and the driver actually waited for me with the door open and just said, calm down, there's another one in 12 minutes, you're gonna hurt yourself. I laughed it off at the time but that line stuck with me, mostly because he was right and I knew it. I timed my mornings for the next week and found out I was leaving my apartment 4 minutes later than I needed to, which turned into a full sprint every single day over basically nothing. The funny part is the 7:27 gets me to work by 8:05 anyway, so all that panic was buying me maybe 10 minutes at my desk that I spent catching my breath. I've stopped running for buses now and my mornings feel way less like a track meet. Any of you ever realize the thing you rush for every day doesn't actually save you anything?
