Just realized my drive to work hit 25,000 miles this year - that's literally across the country and back
I checked my odometer yesterday and couldn't believe I put that many miles on just going back and forth to the same office. Has anyone else calculated their yearly commute mileage and gotten a shock?

across the country and back" is insane honestly. 25k miles in a year just to sit in an office is wild when you think about it. That's like 60+ miles round trip every single day, probably like 2 hours of driving. I did the math on mine once and it was around 12k and I thought that was bad. Gas alone must be killing your wallet, not even counting the wear on your car. Have you thought about finding a closer job or maybe asking to work from home a couple days? That mileage adds up fast in ways nobody really thinks about until you see the number.

That 25k number is wild but honestly @brooke767 said something that got me thinking about the hidden costs nobody talks about. I bet most people don't factor in how much that mileage drops your car's resale value. My buddy traded in his 3 year old Camry with 90k miles and the dealer offered him basically half what a 45k mile car would fetch. Plus the maintenance hits hard too. I did my commute math and realized I was burning through a set of tires every 18 months instead of every 3 years. So you're paying for gas, oil changes every 2 months, brakes more often, and then the trade-in hit on top of all that. It's like a triple tax on your wallet for driving that far.

Did you factor in the extra insurance costs for a longer commute too cause that caught me off guard.
