Rant: tried a full face mask on a shallow dock job in Galveston and got a surprise I did not plan for
Ran a 12 foot dock inspection in Galveston Bay using a borrowed full face mask with a comms unit, figuring it would be an easy upgrade over my usual half mask and hard hat. About 20 minutes in, the strap on the right side started slipping and water leaked past the seal near my temple. I stayed calm and finished the check but by then I had a little water sloshing around my chin and the comms went all muffled. Turns out the mask was sized for a smaller head than mine and the seal was never going to hold, so now I always do a 5 minute shallow test before I trust new gear. Does anyone here have a checklist for fit testing a new full face mask before a real job?
