Found out after 6 years I was strapping my bailout bottle wrong

I've been clipping my bailout to the left D-ring since dive school, nobody ever said anything. Last week a saturation guy on the boat looked at my rig and just goes 'you use that thing when your primary dies, why you want it floating behind your shoulder?' He had me switch it to the chest strap and now I actually remember it's there. Anyone else have an instructor or old timer quietly fix something you'd been doing forever?
