Blew a hose fitting 60 feet down off the coast of Galveston last Tuesday

I was doing a routine inspection on a riser when my air hose fitting let go. It sounded like a gunshot underwater, and suddenly I was breathing free-flow with bubbles everywhere. Had to do a controlled emergency ascent and buddy-check my gear on the surface. Has anyone else had a fitting fail on them like that, or was I just unlucky with a bad o-ring?

Guess I'm still picking bits of that o-ring out of my shorts...

Man, always double-check those o-rings before a dive, I learned that one the hard way too.

My very first open water dive, I was in a hurry and missed a small crack in the o-ring on my regulator. Got about fifteen feet down and felt that cold trickle on my neck. Had to call the whole thing off and surface early, felt like a real rookie. You never forget that feeling.
