Went from hating modern comic fans to being one over 5 years

Back in 2018 I used to roll my eyes at anyone who collected variants or chased first appearances, thought they were just hoarding cardboard for clout. But after my local shop in Akron started doing a 50 cent back issue bin and I pulled a mid-grade Spectacular Spider-Man 101, I suddenly got why people get obsessed with the hunt. So which side are you on, do you think the shift from story purists to value collectors has hurt the community or just brought in more energy?

People do this with everything, not just comics. Cars, vinyl records, sneakers, everyone eventually figures out the fun part is chasing the thing, not just owning it.
