I finally went to my first local comic con in years and the "pros only" back issue wall got me thinking
Went to the comic con in the old armory downtown last Saturday and spent an hour watching people at this one dealer's booth where the good back issues were kept in a case labeled "ask for prices." Half the folks walked right past without looking, but one guy in a Captain America shirt haggled for 20 minutes over a stack and walked off grinning, so I honestly can't tell if that setup is smart sales or just gatekeeping. My take is it keeps casual browsers from stumbling onto anything good, but my buddy who sells on weekends says it cuts down on people thumbing through his nice stuff with cheeto fingers. What do you all think, should expensive back issues be out in the open for anyone to flip through or does that just get them wrecked?
