Vent: my $25 burr grinder beat my $150 one and I can't stop thinking about it
I bought a BladeRunner 9000 about 8 months ago because everyone online swore a burr grinder under $100 was junk, and I wanted to finally taste what "real" coffee was supposed to be. Two weeks ago I grabbed a $25 hand grinder off a clearance rack in Portland just to have something for camping. Same beans, same water, same V60, and I did a side by side pour over test in my kitchen. The cheap one gave me a cleaner cup with way more of the fruity notes, and the expensive one honestly tasted kind of flat. Now I'm wondering if I just wasted 150 bucks on hype, so has anyone else found a cheap grinder that punched way above its price?
