Tbh, my whole coffee game changed in a tiny shop in Seattle
Honestly, I was just grabbing a quick cup on a trip last fall. The barista saw me dump sugar in my dark roast and asked if I wanted to try it black first. She gave me a tiny sample of a lighter roast from Guatemala, and for the first time, I actually tasted notes of citrus and honey instead of just bitter. I bought a bag of those beans and a simple pour-over setup right there. Now I brew that way every morning and really taste the coffee. Has anyone else had a moment like that where a simple suggestion from someone just flipped a switch for you?

That's cool, it's wild how one small tip can change a whole routine. So after you switched to pour-over, did you start noticing big differences between other beans too? Like, could you tell a Kenyan from an Ethiopian just by taste, or did it take a while to pick up on that stuff?

It took a few months before my palate really woke up. My friend brought over a bag he called "funky" and I finally got those blueberry notes people talk about. What's the weirdest flavor note you've ever picked up in a coffee?
