Froth vs No Froth: Am I just making hot milk look fancy?

I spent 3 years frothing my oat milk every single morning until I went to a buddy's place and he just poured cold milk straight into his black coffee. I couldn't tell the difference in taste, but he claimed the cold milk gave it a cleaner finish. Does the froth actually change the flavor or is it just for the aesthetic?

Girl I feel this so hard. For years I thought I was elevating my morning ritual with the perfect microfoam, but honestly it's mostly just for the look and the cozy vibes. Hot milk with a bit of froth can change the texture a tiny bit, but the taste? Not really unless you're burning the milk or something.
