A senior dev told me my comments were useless.

I used to comment every single line like 'increment i by 1' until a guy on my team said comments should explain WHY not what. Has anyone else had to unlearn bad commenting habits from tutorials?

Nah that's real life though. Like it's the same as putting directions on a jar of pickles, you don't need to write "open lid" you need to say "store in fridge after opening" or whatever.

You ever had to help a friend set up a new TV? My buddy spent twenty minutes trying to find the power button on his new one, turns out it was hidden behind a little flap with a tiny label that said "press here." He said it was like the designers figured nobody would ever try turning it on without a manual.

Wow @the_derek, sounds like your buddy needed a better manual, not more hidden buttons.
