Boss says skip the probe, I say run it anyway. Who's right?

Had a job last Tuesday in Tulsa, production part off the mill was drifting 0.004 on the bore. My boss wanted me to just eyeball the offsets and keep cutting, but I stopped and re-probed the fixture every 10 parts. Lost maybe 20 minutes total but scrapped zero, he still thinks I wasted time. Is there a line between trusting your setup and verifying it, or am I just slow?
