My compost pile is finally working and it's kinda cool
I mean, I started composting last year but it was just a smelly mess. Idk, I watched some videos and fixed it. Maybe it's just me, but seeing it turn into soil is awesome. It's less waste going to the landfill. Small steps, right?

How long did it take yours to stop smelling? Mine was a mess until I figured out the green/brown mix lol

What tips from the videos helped you the most? I totally get it, my compost was a stinky mess for months. I had to learn about balancing greens and browns the hard way. Once I added more dry leaves and cardboard, the smell went away in a couple weeks. Now it breaks down into this dark, crumbly soil that's perfect for my garden. It feels good to know I'm throwing less stuff in the trash.

Balancing greens and browns was a game changer for me too, @quinns49. I started shredding junk mail and paper bags to add as browns, which really sped things up. Getting that mix right means it heats up properly and breaks down faster into actual dirt. It's pretty satisfying turning kitchen scraps into something useful instead of trash.
