Two callbacks in one day, then a bird nest at 4pm ruined everything
Last Tuesday started great. I had two jobs booked, both easy sweep and inspect on some older ranches out past Round Rock, and I knocked both out before lunch with no drama. Then the phone rang at 2, a lady in Georgetown said her fireplace was smoking into the house, so I figured quick look, easy money. It was not easy. Some starling had built a nest right on top of the flue cap, and I spent an hour and a half on a hot roof pulling out twigs and old nesting junk while the sun cooked me. When I finally got the brush down the flue, the creosote was glazed so hard it took three passes, and I still had to tell her the chimney needed a full reline quote. I got home at 7:30, ate cold leftovers, and told my wife I am done taking same day calls after 2pm. Does anyone else shut off new bookings after a certain time, or do you just take the hit and go?
