Hot take: Chef TikTok is really shaping what gets cooked
I see so many places adding trends from videos. Makes me wonder if we're losing some originality.

Watched a place near me do the feta pasta thing for months. Honestly it feels like every restaurant just copies the same three viral foods now. Tbh we're stuck in this loop where everyone's scared to try something that isn't already popular. It kinda feels like originality is dying for quick likes.

But is it really killing originality though? Tbh restaurants have always copied popular dishes, it's just faster now with social media. Honestly most places doing viral food are just trying to survive, not get likes. The real original spots are still out there, they just don't blow up on your timeline as much.

Honestly worked in a kitchen that jumped on every trend, and it just burns everyone out. The move is to take one viral thing and tweak it with what you're already good at, like adding your house spice blend to that pasta. Customers notice when you just copy, but they remember when you make it your own. Lets you ride the wave without looking like everyone else lol.
