The barista who refused to rush my pour-over changed how I tip
Last Tuesday at that little shop on 5th and Main, I ordered their house blend and this barista, Chris maybe, spent 4 extra minutes dialing in the grind because the water temp felt off. I was late for a meeting and honestly annoyed, but then he handed it over and said, 'Rushing this just makes a sad cup, and you deserve better than sad.' He was right, the coffee was the best I had all month, and it got me thinking about how we treat service workers. Everyone online screams about speed and convenience, but that interaction stuck with me because he cared more about the craft than the line behind me. Has anyone else had a worker slow down on purpose and it totally changed how you see their job?
