I thought paying for forum access was a scam, now I'm hooked

Last month I dropped $30 on a yearly membership to a niche tree care forum after 6 months of lurking, fully expecting to get burned. Instead I got a reply from a guy in Oregon who solved a root flare issue I'd been fighting since April with one photo and two sentences. Has anyone else been converted by a paid community they swore they'd never join?
