Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say he'd never hire a new grad and it got me thinking
I was at a Starbucks on 42nd Street last Tuesday and this older guy told his friend that anyone under 25 is useless because they don't know how to work. It bugged me because I'm 23 and just started a job where they actually trained me for 3 weeks before I touched anything real. The friend pushed back and said age isn't the issue, its whether someone shows up willing to learn. I ended up chiming in and we talked for like 20 minutes about how boomers vs gen z just need to talk more. Has anyone else had a random conversation like this that totally changed how you saw something?

Kinda feels like you're making a whole thing out of one grumpy dude's bad take.

Oh come on, @jana_scott, you're missing the bigger picture here. That one grumpy dude might be a symptom, not the cause. Think about how many people just scroll by and never say anything, but they feel the same way. He's just the one who finally typed it out loud. It's like seeing one cockroach in your kitchen and pretending that's all there is. So maybe instead of brushing him off, we should ask why he felt comfortable enough to post it in the first place.
