Power stretching a carpet into a hallway corner: yank it tight or creep it slow?
Had a bedroom to hallway transition last Tuesday where the carpet was about 3/8 inch short of the tack strip on the long wall, and I was not about to pull the seam. I tried the slow creep first, working the knee kicker in small 6 inch bites with a stair tool at the corner, and it took over an hour to get it to lay flat. Then I got impatient and just power stretched the whole run from the far wall with a borrowed stretcher head, and it came in clean in about 15 minutes, but I am still not sure it holds as well at the corner. So which is it, do you slow creep into tight corners or just yank it and trust the stretch? I want to hear from guys who have pulled a lot more hallways than me.
