Knee kicker spring tension, I finally read the manual after 14 years
Been installing since 2009 out of Boise, and I always cranked the knee kicker tension way past where the dial said. I thought more snap meant tighter carpet, so every job I'd have it maxed out. Last Tuesday I had a job on a 40 oz commercial carpet and the backing started rippling before I even got the power stretcher down. My helper, a 19 year old kid, just flipped the dial back to the middle mark and said 'the instructions say this is for residential.' Carpet laid flat, no issues, I felt like a total dummy. Anyone else ever run a tool wrong for that long and only found out from a rookie?
