That time a junior dev fixed my broken code in 10 minutes flat

I was stuck on a bug in our payment processing script for like 3 days at my last job in Chicago. A new guy straight out of a coding bootcamp came over, spotted a missing semicolon and a logic error in under 10 minutes. It made me realize how often experienced people overcomplicate stuff because they assume problems are hard. Are we all just skipping the basics when we troubleshoot, or is it just me?

@keith_rivera19 I started triple checking basic stuff first after that happened to me.

Didn't I read somewhere that experienced coders spend more time on complex fixes than juniors do?

Agree with @keith_rivera19 on that... I've noticed the same thing with my dad and his old truck. He'll spend a whole weekend trying to fix a weird engine noise with all his tools and know-how, but then a neighbor kid just points out the gas cap was loose. We get so used to complicated solutions that we forget to check the simple stuff first... it's like our brains skip over the easy answers because they don't feel "smart" enough.
