One bad Monday in March changed how I screen every job posting
I got laid off on a Monday morning. 9:04 AM. The call lasted 6 minutes. I'd been there 4 years. What stuck with me was the job description I applied to 3 months earlier. It listed 12 requirements. I only met 7. The recruiter told me later, 'We knew you were missing skills but hired you anyway.' Then my manager changed and suddenly those missing skills became the reason for my exit. Since then I read every posting like a contract. If they list 10 things and I only fit 8, I ask two questions before applying. What happens before the 90 day review? And who actually wrote the requirements? Has anyone else gotten burned by posting gaps that turned into performance issues later?

Honestly, that 6 minute call after 4 years hits hard, and I'm really sorry you went through that. Tbh, that manager change is the real killer, it's like the requirements suddenly become a weapon instead of a wishlist.
