Just realized the 'always be networking' advice made my work worse for a full year until I cut it out.

My project completion rate went from 60% to 95% in six months after I stopped forcing three coffee chats a week and just focused on doing good work for my team in Atlanta.

oh man this totally hit home for me because i had almost the same thing happen with adding people on linkedin. i used to obsess over connecting with everyone in my field and it just cluttered my feed with all these people i never actually talked to. then i realized i was spending more time scrolling through their posts than actually doing my own work. i cut back to just keeping up with my actual coworkers and maybe 2 or 3 people i genuinely learn from. my focus came back and i actually started getting deeper into my own projects instead of feeling like i was falling behind by not networking. sometimes less really is more with that stuff.

I get what you're saying, but my experience was totally different.
