Just found out the 'waterproof' rating on my tent fly is only tested in a lab, not real rain
I was reading the fine print on a gear review site and it said most 3-season tents get their 2000mm hydrostatic head rating from a 5-minute spray test, not an actual storm, which explains why my $250 Big Agnes leaked on night 3 of a 4-day trip in the White Mountains, so now I'm wondering if anyone else has a tent that held up in sustained rain or if we're all just guessing.
