I finally gave up on using compressed air for sensor cleaning

I used to swear by canned air for blowing dust off sensors, but last month I blew a jet of propellant right onto a mirrorless sensor in my shop and left a nasty residue. Took me 45 minutes with a wet swab to fix my own mistake. Anyone else switch to bulb blowers only after a similar disaster?

Heard from a repair guy that freeze spray is the real culprit.

I had a rocket blower fail on me mid-clean a few years back and actually prefer the control of canned air with a long nozzle. Maybe my luck has just held out so far.

Man you're making it sound like a rocket blower failing is some kind of life or death situation, @wesley385. I've had one get a little flimsy after a few years (not even broken, just less forceful) and I just kept using it anyway. Canned air is fine if you're careful, but I've had a couple cans actually freeze up on me mid-spray and leave that gross residue on a lens before. Feels more like a trade off than a clear win to me.
