Vent: I used to hate doing wall fish runs in old houses until I switched to a different drill bit.

For years I fought with spade bits that would wander and bind up in the lath and plaster. Last month a guy on a job in Tacoma showed me his Milwaukee Shockwave auger bit, and it was like night and day. The screw tip pulls it through clean and the flutes clear the dust so much faster. What's your go-to bit for fishing through those old walls?

Saw a video where a guy swore by those self-feed bits for plaster. He said the sharp tip punches through the lath without grabbing, and the wide flutes keep the hole from clogging. Makes sense why that Milwaukee bit worked so well for you.

You mean the self-feed bit, right?

Yeah, those old spade bits are a nightmare in plaster. The self-feed style is the only way to go now. Like joseph_ellis85 said, that sharp tip is key for getting through the wood lath without it grabbing and shaking the whole wall. You get a clean hole that doesn't blow out the back of the plaster. Once you try it, you'll never fight with a regular bit again.
