That housing development in Phoenix forced me to change my whole install method

I was running cable through a new build out near Desert Ridge last month. Everything looked fine until I hit a spot where they put a metal stud right where my low voltage ring should have gone. Took me 45 minutes to cut a proper path with my dremel because the framer was off by 3 inches. Now I walk every path with a stud finder before I even pull my first foot of cable. Any of you guys run into framers being that far off?

Jeez, 45 minutes with a dremel in a new build? I'd have lost my mind. Reminds me of the time I was doing a trim out in a custom home in Scottsdale and the homeowner decided to move his wine fridge three times during rough-in. By the third time I just marked the studs with a sharpie every 2 inches and hoped for the best. Ended up having to snake cable around a support beam they added for a dumb decorative archway that wasn't even on the original plans. Now I just carry a 24-inch level with me everywhere and triple check every measurement before I cut anything. Framers are like rogue contractors sometimes, you just gotta adapt or your whole day goes sideways.

@bennett.mason you nailed it. Builders move stuff way quicker than framers can keep up.
