Guy on a job in Tulsa told me to always leave the drop loop long, my lead says it looks sloppy
Was pulling a run through a crawlspace last month and the old timer helping me said "kid, always coil 3 extra feet at the box, you'll thank yourself later." My lead saw it and told me to cut it back because it looks lazy and wastes cable on a 200 ft spool. I get his side, clean is clean and the customer sees the plate not the attic. But I keep thinking about the time I needed 2 more feet on a rework and had to repull the whole thing. Do you leave slack at the box or run it tight and neat, and has tight ever bit you back?
What did your lead say when you asked him about the rework side of it, like if a box ever has to move 6 inches for a remodel? That's the part I never get a straight answer on. If he's got a trick for adding length to a short run without a full repull, I'd want to hear it, because cutting it tight only saves a few feet off a 200 ft spool.
