Pro tip: those dash cam parking mode adapters are worth the hassle

I bought a cheap parking mode cable for my dash cam off Amazon 3 months ago and it kept draining my battery overnight in my driveway in Austin. After killing my battery twice, I finally spent $35 on a hardwire kit with voltage cutoff and it's been flawless ever since. Has anyone else had luck with a specific brand of these things?

My 2015 Civic sat dead in a parking lot after I tried one of those hardwire kits. The voltage cutoff kicked in but the battery was already shot from the Texas heat. I just use a regular cord now and accept that I don't get parking mode.

Disagree completely on these parking mode adapters being worth it. They just add another point of failure to a system that already works fine with basic hardwiring. I ran a simple hardwire kit in my old Tacoma for years without any voltage cutoff and never had a dead battery even in the Arizona summers. The whole voltage cutoff gimmick is overblown unless your car sits for days at a time without being started. Most people just don't need it and the extra cost is wasted money.
