The obsession with perfect monthly spreads is killing the point

I spent 3 hours last Sunday making a beautiful May calendar with washi tape and watercolor, then realized I had zero space left for actual tasks or notes. Has anyone else found that decorating takes over and the system stops working?

Had a friend who gave up on monthly spreads after wasting a whole afternoon decorating hers.

Wait, a whole afternoon? Decorating? That's wild to me. I mean I get wanting it to look nice but an entire afternoon is like... a whole chunk of your day gone for a calendar. I can see how someone would just give up on it after that. The burnout from that kind of effort is real, you know? You put all that time in and then you don't even want to look at it because it's so fancy. Sometimes simple is better.

@mark_mitchell, decorating helps some people actually use the planner though.
