My friend told me to stop drawing fancy monthly covers

She said I was spending 2 hours every month on art that didn't help my planning, and she was right. I switched to a simple title and date, and now I actually use my journal more. Has anyone else cut back on decoration and found it helped?

Maybe it's just me but the fancy covers started feeling like a chore I had to finish before I could actually write anything.

Honestly feel like @bennett.nora has a point though. I mean, it's just a cover, right? The writing is the actual work. Maybe we're all making it a bigger deal than it needs to be. Sometimes you just gotta open a blank page and start typing instead of worrying about how it looks.
