Changed my mind on pre-drilling studs after a 3-hour drywall hang

I used to skip pilot holes because it felt slower, but this weekend in my garage I snapped two drill bits and stripped a third screw while hanging drywall. Three hours turned into five because I had to patch spots and redo sections, all from avoiding pre-drilling. Anyone else trade speed for rework like that, or am I the only one who had to learn this twice?

Five hours for three hours of work, that hurts just reading it. I would've thrown the drywall screws across the garage by hour four.
