Vent: I think small weekly savings are overrated compared to big picture cuts

Had a talk with my neighbor Dave last Saturday while we were both out watering our lawns. He was all excited about switching to generic dish soap to save $3 a month. I told him I just refinanced my mortgage at a lower rate and it's saving me $280 a month. He kinda paused and said he never thought about the big stuff because it felt too hard. That conversation hit different because I used to be just like him. I was clipping coupons and skipping coffee while paying $200 in bank fees and high interest. Now I focus on the 3 big things: housing, transportation, and food waste. Has anyone else shifted from tiny cuts to major savings and felt like you were missing the forest for the trees?

Did you ever add up what you were spending on bank fees and interest? Thats where the real money goes, not dish soap.

@mary_martin22 it's just bank fees, not exactly life changing money.

Didn't Dave's reaction tell you more about people being scared of math?
