My remote work switch drained my emergency fund faster than expected

I figured working from home would save money, but stuff like faster internet and a good chair cost more than I planned. Now I'm trying to fix my budget.

Disagree with your take on remote work draining funds. From what I've seen, saving on gas, lunch, and clothes adds up quick. Your costs for a chair and internet are one-time, but daily savings keep going. Maybe your budget got hit by other stuff, not just working from home. We often blame new changes for old money problems.

Remote work setup costs caught me off guard too. I had to upgrade my internet plan and buy a proper desk, which wiped out a chunk of savings. @lisa_morgan makes a good point about daily savings, but those upfront hits are real. My power bill went up from running the computer all day. It took months for the commute savings to balance out the initial spend.

My buddy had the same thing happen, his cheap apartment needed soundproofing he never planned for. Those hidden costs really sneak up on you.
