Talked to a guy at a hostel in Prague about his 'no bag' rule
He said he only travels with a small backpack, no checked luggage ever, and it cut his trip costs by about 30% because he never pays fees. I've always been an over-packer, but maybe he's onto something. Anyone else try traveling with just a carry-on for a long trip?

Started traveling with just a carry-on for a two-week trip to Japan last year. I packed five outfits that all mixed and matched, plus a pair of sandals I wore on the plane to save bag space. Did sink laundry twice in hotel rooms and it was actually fine, just wrung stuff out in a towel and hung it overnight. Wasn't perfect, but not having to wait at baggage claim or worry about lost bags made it totally worth it for me.

Oh, the no-bag crusader! I met one of those in Berlin who bragged about wearing the same socks for a week. Sure, you save on fees, but then you also have to buy a new shirt every time you spill soup, which I always do. I guess it's a trade-off between packing light and doing laundry in a hotel sink like a fugitive.
