PSA: I used to book the first cheap flight I saw to Bangkok, now I set a price alert for 3 days first.

I was about to buy a $650 ticket last Tuesday, but my buddy told me to wait and check again on Friday. The same flight dropped to $520, saving me over a hundred bucks just by delaying the purchase for a bit. Do you guys have a specific day you've found is best for booking flights to Asia?

Yeah the "best day" thing is mostly a myth now, but I get why people look for it. The real trick is just checking a few times a week, like your buddy said. I've seen prices jump around a lot between Tuesday and Thursday for some reason, even on the same flight.

Honestly the whole best day to book thing feels like a myth now. My biggest win was just being super flexible with my dates last year. I wanted to go to Tokyo but flying out on a Wednesday instead of a Friday cut the price in half, it was insane. I stopped chasing a specific cheap day and just let the calendar on Skyscanner show me the whole month. The airlines seem to change their algorithms too much for a single day trick to work forever.

lol right? It's like trying to catch a greased pig, the whole "cheap day" thing. I swear they change the rules just to watch us all scramble. My strategy now is just to mash the refresh button until my finger hurts and hope for the best.
