The $9 chicken that exposed my rice habit
For 2 years I rinsed my rice until the water ran clear, then cooked it like pasta in a big pot of water. Last Tuesday I watched a video from a guy in Austin who said to toast the dry rice in oil first, and I nearly dropped my phone. I had been boiling away all the nutrients and flavor the whole time, plus wasting gas on that extra pot. Anyone else find out they were overcomplicating a cheap staple and the fix was actually less effort?

Next you're gonna tell me the secret is baking the water first.
