Compared store brand rice to name brand and the difference was shocking
I always bought the cheap store brand rice from Walmart to save money. Last week I grabbed a bag of the name brand stuff on sale for the same price. The name brand cooked up fluffier and didn't turn into a sticky mess after sitting for 10 minutes. The store brand always clumped together but I thought that's just how rice worked. Anyone else notice a big difference between cheap and mid-tier rice brands?

That thing about "like paste" made me laugh because my friend brought some budget rice over for tacos once and it was basically wallpaper glue. He just sat there trying to scoop it up with a fork and gave up after two bites. Now he's a strict medium grain guy.

Wait, is that actually true though? I mean I get that name brand rice can be a little better but I thought the main difference was just how long you let it sit after cooking. Like if you rinse it really well before cooking even the cheap stuff comes out fluffy. I've been buying the store brand jasmine rice from Aldi for years and it never gets sticky unless I forget to rinse it a few times.

Oh man, I had a buddy who swore by the cheap rice from Dollar Tree. He brought some over for a cookout and it came out like paste. We all just stared at our plates. He buys the name brand stuff now.
