PSA: My wife's friend said she buys all her kids' clothes from a local 'buy nothing' group

Honestly, I was at a barbecue last weekend and this mom was talking about how she hasn't paid for clothes for her two boys in over a year. She said she just joined a Facebook group for our town where people give stuff away for free. She showed me her phone, and she had a post saved for a bag of size 6 boys' jeans. Tbh, it made me think about how much we spend on stuff that just gets outgrown. I'm going to check out the group for some work gear. Has anyone else had good luck with these groups for things like boots or jackets?

But is a peeling lining really the end of the world? It's just a raincoat, not a car engine. Stuff wears out, you know? Seems like a pretty small thing to get worked up about.
