My neighbor Mike changed how I think about buying in bulk
I was loading up on giant packs of chicken at Costco last weekend because it's cheaper per pound, right? Mike stopped me and said I was actually burning cash since I live alone and toss half of it after it goes bad. He showed me his receipt from Aldi where he buys smaller family packs for just $3.50 a pound and wastes nothing. Has anyone else done the math on what you actually use vs what you throw out?

Jumped in with both feet on this one because I did the exact same thing with paper towels. I kept buying those giant packs from the warehouse store thinking I was saving money but I'd have half a roll left that dried out and got dusty before I used it. Mike is totally right about the math. I switched to buying just what I need from the regular grocery store and my wallet actually thanks me. It's eye opening when you realize bulk isn't always a deal if you're not using it up.

Oh man, the "half a roll left that dried out" part hit so close to home for me. I did the exact same thing with those big multi packs from the warehouse store. I'd get all excited thinking I was being smart with my money, but by the time I got to the last few rolls they were all dusty and gross from sitting in the garage. It's such a waste when you think about it. Now I just grab a single pack from the regular store and it actually lasts me the right amount of time. The math really does work out better when you're not letting stuff go bad before you can even use it.

Same boat here with paper towels. Glad you found what works!
