Hit 50,000 bricks laid in a single year - didn't think that was possible
I've been tracking my daily counts since January and I just passed 50,000 bricks laid for the year yesterday on a job in Manchester. That's way more than I thought I could do by myself working solo. Has anyone else hit a number like this and felt surprised by what you can pull off?

actually, 50,000 bricks solo in a year works out to about 137 bricks a day if you're taking weekends off. That's a solid pace but I've seen guys hit 200 a day on big wall jobs with a good helper. The math is a bit off though. A standard brick is about 8 inches long, so 50,000 bricks laid end to end would be over 6 miles. You'd need a lot of mortar and a lot of scaffolding to make that happen solo on commercial work. I do mostly residential repointing and small walls, I top out around 15,000 a year. Still, congrats on the personal record. Nothing wrong with being proud of your own numbers.

Well damn. 137 bricks a day solo is still grinding hard. Different strokes for different jobs I guess. Numbers are just numbers at the end of the day.

joelt70 I'm over here doing 137 bricks a day and my back feels like I got hit by one of those 6-mile brick walls you mentioned. My helper is just my dog and he's terrible at mixing mortar.
