The 400 year old olive tree in Split made me rethink how I prune my fruit trees at home
I was walking through Diocletian's Palace in Split, Croatia last spring and there's an olive tree growing right out of the stone wall that they say is over 400 years old. The thing has almost no soil, gets baked by the sun, and still puts out fruit every year, which made me realize I've been babying my backyard trees way too much. Anyone else changed how they prune or water after seeing a tree survive in a spot that should have killed it?
