Soaking bare root starts in willow water worked on my sad little kiwis, but is it the willow or just patience?
Nine months ago I stuck two scraggly kiwi cuttings in a jar of water with crushed willow twigs after reading about it on some old forum, and both threw roots in under 3 weeks while my plain-water control sat there doing nothing. My neighbor in Sacramento swears the willow does nothing and I just got lucky with timing, so tell me straight: real rooting hormone science or garden folklore?
