Rant: my monstera dropped 4 leaves in a week after I moved it 2 feet closer to the window
I moved my monstera from the corner of my apartment in Boise to right next to a south facing window because I figured it wanted more light. Within 5 days it dropped 4 leaves, all from the bottom, and the remaining ones started curling at the edges. I panicked and moved it back, then read that monsteras can throw a fit over sudden light changes even when the change seems good for them. It has been sitting in the same spot for 3 weeks now and finally pushed out one sad little new leaf. Has anyone else had a plant punish them for doing what the care guides say?
How close to the glass did it end up sitting? Two feet can put a plant right in the path of cold drafts at night or hot afternoon sun, and both of those can cause leaf drop that looks exactly like a light problem. South windows in Boise get pretty intense, so if the leaves were curling and going crispy at the edges, that sounds more like burn or temp shock than too much light in general. Did the leaves that dropped turn yellow first or did they just fall off green?
