The shake isn't the problem, it's that everyone taps the shutter like it's a doorbell
I shot my niece's birthday last month at a park in Sacramento and got 40 blurry frames before I figured out what was going on. It was me. Every photo, my finger would jab the screen to focus and fire in the same motion, and that little jab moved the phone maybe a quarter inch. The trick that fixed it was dumb simple: tap to focus, wait for the box to settle, then breathe out and press. Last week I did the same party setup and only 3 of 60 shots came out soft. I know this because I sat there and counted them like a nerd. The other thing people miss is that holding your phone out at arm's length makes it worse, so I tuck my elbows in now. What's your go-to fix for shake, or do you just spray 30 pics and pray?
Man, the elbow tuck thing is real and nobody talks about it enough. My question is what do you do when the light is low and the shutter gets slow, because no amount of breathing helps me there and that's when I end up with a pile of junk. Do you just crank the ISO and deal with the grain, or is there some brace trick I'm missing?
