Stumbling upon a forgotten forge on a camping trip

Whoa, that's wild. Old bellows are usually leather though, so maybe the metal frame was rusted?

Spot on about the rust, @cole356. Seen that a Bunch with old hardware. A soak in white vinegar can work Wonders on the crusty bits if the leather is still intact.

My 1970s typewriter had the same crusty hinge problem. It's funny how many fixes for old stuff just come down to basics like vinegar or baking soda.
