Rant: I put Tajin on watermelon thinking I was a genius, then I put it on pancakes and ruined a whole Sunday
Last Sunday I was scrolling and saw some guy on a food page sprinkle Tajin on watermelon and call it the snack of summer, so I went to the store, spent 4 bucks on a shaker, and tried it. It was fine, kind of sour and salty and sweet all at once, nothing wild. Then Monday morning I got cocky and shook it over my pancakes with syrup, thinking salty sweet always works. Two bites in and I had to admit I just made the worst thing I have eaten all year, the lime powder and maple flavor fought each other like two dogs over a bone. My roommate watched me scrape the whole plate into the trash and said nothing, which was somehow worse than if he had laughed. So where do you all draw the line on the salty sweet thing, is there a combo people swear by that actually works or is it mostly hype?
