DAE know that peanut butter and bacon was a real sandwich in the 60s? Saw it on a menu in Dayton
I was flipping through a diner menu in Dayton last weekend and saw a peanut butter and bacon sandwich listed as a special. I asked the waitress about it and she said it's been on the menu since 1968 because the old owner ate one every day for lunch. I tried it and honestly the salty crunch works way better than I expected. I rated it a solid 7 out of 10 but my buddy gave it a 3. Anyone else run into a combo like this that's older than you thought?
A peanut butter and bacon sandwich has been sitting on a Dayton menu for over 50 years and your BUDDY is out here handing out 3s like he's a food critic for the New York Times. The old owner ate one EVERY DAY for lunch and lived to keep it on the menu, so your friend can take his 3 and go eat a plain turkey sandwich somewhere. What gets me is the waitress knew the whole history down to the year, which means that sandwich has outlasted probably half the customers who ever ordered it. Salty crunch plus peanut butter is a WEIRD combo on paper but the 60s crowd clearly knew something. Your friend owes that sandwich an apology.
