Just finished binging Mindhunter and then tried Criminal Minds back to back... what a difference.

I watched Mindhunter first and was hooked on the slow, creepy interviews and real history stuff. Then I threw on Criminal Minds thinking it would be more of the same excitement, but it felt so over the top and fake in comparison. The profiles on Mindhunter actually felt like real police work, while on Criminal Minds they just guess the whole unsub's childhood in 5 seconds. Has anyone else switched from a slower show to a faster one and felt like the faster one lost all the impact?

Mindhunter set that bar high with the slow burn interviews and actual interrogation tactics. Criminal Minds is more like a rollercoaster where they skip the build up and jump straight to the dramatic guesswork, so it feels hollow. If you want something that keeps that grounded vibe but moves a bit faster, try The Fall with Gillian Anderson it has the same methodical profiling but with more tension. Youre not gonna get the same satisfaction from the quick fix shows after sitting through real police procedure.

Have you checked out The Fall yet? It really helped me get that same patient profiling fix without feeling like I was watching a police training video.

Honestly 100% agree with @bennett.nora, The Fall is the perfect middle ground because it keeps that same slow burn tension but actually moves the plot forward episode to episode instead of just sitting in an interrogation room for 40 minutes.
