Finally watched The Wire after everyone told me it's the best show ever
I got around to The Wire last month after years of hearing how it's the greatest TV series of all time. I made it through season 2 before I gave up. All that hype about realism and social commentary, but I found the pacing so slow I kept checking my phone every 10 minutes. Anyone else feel like the show gets a free pass just because critics worship it?

Oh man, I totally get that. I forced myself to watch a whole season of a "masterpiece" show once and felt the same way. What helped me was skipping ahead to episodes people said were the most intense, just to see if the style ever clicked for me. Did you try any of the later seasons or just call it after season 2?
